Vigils planned so staff, patients and public can peacefully call for action on health



The organisers of a number of planned health ‘vigils’ outside hospitals next week are urging staff such as nurses and consultants to support the move.

The ‘Still Waiting’ Campaign was set up after the Prime Time Investigates programme which revealed that some people around the country are waiting as long as 24 months for procedures.

They are holding a series of ‘vigils’ a week from today on the 14th of April to call on the Health Minister to increase bed capacity and reopen services such as closed A and Es in Roscommon and Dundalk.

Cyril Brennan is a care assistant from Ballyshannon and he is coordinating the vigils in Letterkenny and Sligo.

He says they want to peacefully highlight the urgent need to address the crisis:
