Row over water continues but charges look set to be abolished

The wording of the group’s final report caused major rifts and Fine Gael lost a series of votes on excessive water usage.

While water charges look set to be abolished and paid for through general taxation, Fine Gael wants to ensure that people who use excessive water are charged in some way.

However, the committee has not reached an agreement on this or if and how people are to be refunded.
