The development manager of the Citizen’s Information Service in Sligo says any change to its service needs to retain the county structure.
At present, a restructuring of the Cit Info and the Money Advice and Budgeting Service is being considered with a view to regionalising them.
It would mean that the Sligo Cit Info and MABS would be merged under one board for each organisation for the region including Leitrim, Donegal, Cavan and Monaghan.
Orla Barry, the development manager with CIS in Sligo says she has serious concerns about the potenital loss of the county by county structure.
She says it’s the basis on which these services were developed and there’s no need to change them:
