Letterkenny University Hospital says its emergency department is ‘extremely busy’ and anyone attending should expect delays.
29 patients at the hospital are waiting for a bed; 20 of those are in wards with nine in emergency and overflow areas.
the hospital says all efforts continue to identify patients who can be discharged to make beds available.
The hospital also says people should attend the emergency department only in cases of real emergencies; otherwise they should contact their GP or GP out-of-hours service.
Meanwhile, there were 10 people waiting for a bed in Sligo University Hospital today.
