Additional staff allow two Sligo libraries to resume normal hours

Libraries in Tubbercurry and Ballymote will return to fulltime opening hours from today.

They had been closed for periods due to a shortage of staff.

However, Director of Services Dorothy Clarke has confirmed to Ocean FM News that following the sanctioning of additional staff by Minister for Local Government Simon Coveney last September, normal opening hours at these two libraries resume today and it’s hoped Sligo Central Library will return to normal in the coming weeks as well.

Full report:

Ballymote Community Library will now be open on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 9:30am to 5pm; on Thursdays from noon to 7pm, and on Saturdays from 9:30am to 1:30pm.

Tubbercurry Community Library will be open on Tuesdays from noon to 7pm; on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays from 9:30am to 5pm; and on Saturdays from 9:30am to 1:30pm.

However, rolling closures will continue at Sligo Central Library until more staff are recruited.

The Sligo library will be open from Tuesday April 4th to Saturday 8th and from April 18th to April 22nd during the hours 9:30am to 5:15pm.

The Sligo library will close at 5pm on Saturdays.

However, Council Director of Services Dorothy Clarke hopes that with additional staff, it will not be too long before all library services are back to normal:
