Ardara, Co Donegal, continues fight to retain Ulster Bank branch



About 150 people attended a public meeting in Ardara last night to discuss what to do about Ulster Bank’s plan to close its branch in the town.

The meeting discussed a number of issues, including the idea of having a boycott of Ulster Bank.

The bank is also planning to close branches in Raphoe, also in County Donegal, and in Ballymote, in County Sligo.

Ulster Bank, however, says that services will be available through post offices.

However, Stephen MacCahill the Chairperson of last night’s meeting in Ardara, is accusing the bank of ‘a complete lack of consideration for the local community.’
