Donelon faces a late fitness test for Rovers ahead of Harps match

Sligo Rovers make the short journey to face Finn Harps on Saturday in the SSE Airtricity Premier Division.

In the team news, Rovers are boosted by the return of Micheál Schlingermann to full fitness.

Regan Donelon will have a late fitness test prior to kick off as he battles to overcome an ankle complaint.

The Bit O’ Red secured their first win of the season last week with a 3-2 win over Bray Wanderers.

Last season Rovers failed to secure a win against their north-west rivals with two draws and a defeat.

Manager Dave Robertson wants his players to rise to the challenge of Harps after their good beginning to the season including an away win against St Pat’s.

“We know we are in for a physical battle. We need to be disciplined, tough and take them on in every area.  I want the players to show a resilience once again.

“We are starting to show a consistency. The first half against St Pat’s, the good performance in Cork and the win last week shows we are adapting and we need to be ready to assert ourselves on the game like we did against Bray. This is a direct test of us and we have to be professional – the most important thing for us is to achieve and games like this are key to that.”

Kieran Sadlier has shown great form in recent games, with three goals in as many matches.

Robertson wants to see his midfielder cope with increasing attention and other players to find such high levels of form.

“We are pleased with Kieran’s contribution. He will find that he will be targeted by teams more and more and that will be a test for him first and foremost and to keep this level up. There are other players as well that work hard and will find more opportunities in games. It suits the way we play after 14 months as a group and we want to see them get better and better as Kieran has done.”
