Bundoran station needed to serve North Leitrim area says Councillor

A Leitrim councillor is calling on Donegal County Council to ensure the fire stations in Bundoran and Ballyshannon are not amalgamated.

Fianna Fail’s Justin Warnock raised the motion at a meeting of Manorhamilton Municipal District yesterday for Leitrim council to contact Donegal and ensure the service remains for Kinlough and Tullaghan.

He says the two North Leitrim villages and rural areas are served by the Bundoran fire service and if it is moved or closed they will be left isolated.

The fire stations in Ballyshannon and Bundoran in South Donegal are currently under independent review to see if there will be one new fire station allocated to both services or two new stations.

Councillor Warnock says Manorhamilton is too far away to serve the villages adequately.
