The FAI has confirmed that tomorrow night’s EA Sports Cup first round match between Finn Harps and Cockhill Celtic in Ballybofey has been postponed as a mark of respect following the sad passing of Derry City captain Ryan McBride.
All of the other games in the first round this week are also off and new dates for the rescheduled fixtures will be announced in due course.
Sligo Rovers and Derry themselves don’t enter the competition until the second round, having got a bye in round one.
The SSE Airtricity League Premier Division fixture between Galway United and Derry City, scheduled for Saturday, March 25th has also been postponed, following the earlier postponement of the Derry City and Limerick match.
The EA SPORTS Cup First Round fixtures were set to be played tomorrownight but will now be rescheduled following the sudden passing of City captain McBride.
New dates and times for the fixtures in due course.
