Donegal councillor says concrete-filled tyres should be used to secure life rings on beaches



A Donegal county councillor is calling for a new method be used to secure life buoy rings on beaches.

Independent Niamh Kennedy is suggesting the pole holding the life buoys would be more secure if it was inserted into a concrete-filled tyre.

She says it would also be easy to move the life buoys as the concrete-filled tyre could be rolled to a new place if needed.

She this is already being done on one beach in the county and could be seen as a pilot to roll out out throughout the county.

She made her suggestion at this week’s meeting of Donegal Municipal District.
