Leitrim and Sligo companies creating 18 new jobs



Two businesses based in Leitrim and Sligo are hoping to create a combined 18 jobs over the next 12 to 15 months.

The Shed Distillery in Drumshambo received the green light from Leitrim County Council to build a state of the art new visitor centre.

The 6,000 square-foot Visitor Experience is set to create ten new jobs at full capacity and to attract 10,000 visitors in its first year of operation.

This will bring the total number of employees at the distillery to twenty-five.

Founder of the Distillery Pat Rigney says they aim to be up and running by mid 2018.

Another local company creating jobs is SIS Pitches which was set up in 2001 by Sligo native George Mullan and has laid the pitch for the 2018 World Cup Final in Moscow.

The company have been based primarily in the UK and the Middle East and now plan to create it’s first official presence in Ireland.

The company has laid the pitch at 6 of the 2018 world cup stadiums in Russia and also counts Real Madrid, FC Barcelona and Saracens among its clients.

SIS pitches employs 245 people worldwide and will have an initial presence in Sligo, Wicklow and Derry with 8 jobs being created.

Mark Barry is Operations Director and he told Ocean FM why the company is moving home after 16 years.
