Sligo Council hopes work on Dorrins Strand estate in Strandhill will be finished soon

Sligo County Council hopes work will be completed on a housing estate in Strandhill later this year, which would then enable it be taken over by the council.

At this month’s meeting of the local authority, Independent Councillor Declan Bree asked for an up-to-date report on the situation in the Dorrins Strand estate.

Director of Services Dorothy Clarke said there were two phases to the development.

The first phase was completed by a construction company called CassCon and the second phase was recently finished by another company, Greenway Construction.

Ms Clarke said Phase 2 is in good condition but there are still repairs required to Phase 1, including to public lighting and sewers.

She told councillors the council expected these to be done later this year and the council then hopes to recommend the entire development be taken in charge.
