Clarion road to be renamed? IT President thinks it should be

The president of IT Sligo has hinted that he would like to see a road that runs near the college be renamed to reflect the number of educational institutions located along it.

It had been known as Asylum Road but was renamed Clarion Road when the hotel of the same name opened there.

Now the hotel has been renamed and rebranded as The Clayton Hotel, and the question now arises as to what the road should be called in the future.

IT Sligo President Brendan McCormack told members of Sligo County Council during a presentation this week that the road had a number of schools including the IT, Ballinode College, St Edward’s National School, and St Joseph’s.

He did not say what he would like the road to be called . . . but he certainly left councillors with something to think about.
