Minister wants Donegal people to consider defence forces as a career

A Donegal TD is hoping young people in the county will consider the defence forces as a career opportunity.

A major recruitment drive was announced last week by Minster for Defence Paul Kehoe with a target of over 800 personnel.

An open day is planned for Finner Camp shortly where positions as apprentices, cadets and general service recruits will be showcased across the army, air corps and naval service.

Junior Minister for the Diaspora and Overseas Development Joe McHugh is in the Lebanon today meeting with members of the 109th Infantry Battalion, including 44 from Donegal.

He says there is a proud tradition of people from the county serving on peace missions.
