Siptu fears possible management changes at North West bus depots

Ahead of an all out strike there are fears that the management of the bus depot in Sligo and three sub-depots in Donegal will soon come under the remit of Galway.

Siptu’s transport spokesperson Willie Noone told Ocean FM he has seen leaked documents which claim to show Bus Eireann plans to change the management.

Staff at the company are due to begin industrial action from next Monday after the semi-state company announced it would implement up to €12 million in cuts.

Some expressway services have already come under threat and Willie Noone says Siptu have concerns about any changes to management in the North West.

Meanwhile,

Members of the National Bus and Rail Drivers Union have confirmed that they will find it difficult to pass any picket line at MacDiarmada station in Sligo Town.

It’s shared as a bus depot and rail station and Bus Eireann drivers are expected to undertake industrial action there from Monday.

Speaking to Ocean FM the General Secretary of the NBRU Dermot O’Leary says train drivers will then be facing a moral dilemma.
