Funding for South Donegal bridges not ruled out by department

A Donegal councillor believes work on two bridges in the South of the county would have been done years ago if local schemes had not been suspended.

Independent councillor John Campbell was part of a delegation from the Donegal Municipal District to meet with Transport Minister Shane Ross about funding for Fintra and Tyrconnell bridges yesterday.

Despite being told funding had already been allocated for 2017 the councillors left the meeting confidant that work could be undertaken to improve the two bridges.

Councillor Campbell believes it all comes down to political decisions like the return of the Local Improvement Scheme.

Meanwhile,

Cathaoirleach of the district Niamh Kennedy says they have a plan to make it work.
