New US memos spell concern for the Undocumented in the US

A Donegal campaigner for Irish illegal immigrants in the U.S. says these people are becoming more and more vulnerable under the Trump presidency.

Michael McMahon has made his comments after new memos from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security outline plans to broaden the scope for deportation of immigrants.

The new proposals have already been described as ‘a sweeping rewrite of the U.S.’s immigration enforcement priorities.’

They state that any immigrant living in the U.S. illegally who has been charged or convicted of any crime — and even those suspected of a crime — will be an enforcement priority.

Mick McMahon says the Taoiseach needs to raise the issue with President Trump when they meet for the St Patrick’s Day celebrations.
