Local politicians to meet HSE about long-term solution for Kilglass respite centre

Local politicians say they will meet with the HSE to ensire that a west Sligo respite centre for people with dementia can remain open on a long-term basis.

The Home from Home project operates from the home of the McManus family in Kilglass and is supported by the Alzheimers Society.

Sligo Sinn Fein Councillor Thomas Healy has been working with Sligo Leitrim TD Martin Kenny to try and secure its future after it emerged that funding has become an issue.

It serves around 16 families in the local area.

Councillor Healy says the HSE has confirmed funding for the project for the next 6 months but they will work with the HSE to try and find a longterm solution for the future of the service.

Martin Kenny is welcoming the short-term solution:
