Increase in numbers on hospital trolleys



Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation figures show the number of people waiting on trolleys in North West hospitals has risen today.

Latest figures show that both Letterkenny and Sligo hospitals have seen trolley figures rise to 42.

Sligo University Hospital has 20 people waiting in the emergency department and overflow area of wards, an increase of six from yesterday.

There are 22 people waiting for admission to Letterkenny hospital where the full capacity protocol has been in place since the beginning of this week.

Latest INMO figures show 516 people are on trolleys at hospitals across the country.

Cork University Hospital is the most overcrowded with 45 people in need of a bed.
