Immediate action needed to address staffing crisis facing CAMHS



There are calls for the HSE and the Minister for Health to take immediate action to address the staffing crisis facing mental health and autism services in the North West.

The calls come following a meeting of local politicians and families from the greater Sligo and North West region yesterday.

Sinn Fein Councillor Thomas Healy and Sligo Leitrim TD Martin Kenny brought the families together after it emerged that a child psychiatrist in this region resigned last week.

The over 25 people that attended the meeting said the Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS) as it is known is in crisis and urgently needs more staff.
