Lack of parking in Killybegs is ‘hindering tourism’

An independent Donegal councillor believes Killybegs tourism is suffering from a considerable lack of parking in the coastal town.

Niamh Kennedy raised the issue at this week’s meeting of the Donegal municipal district.

She believes there is inadequate parking facilities to cater for the increasing number of tourists who are visiting the town.

The councillor says a unique problem facing the council in creating more parking, however, is that the Department of the Marine own much of the land in the town itself.

Speaking after the meeting councillor Kennedy said the town is becoming busier all the time with tourists but they have nowhere to park.
