Donegal TD Pat ‘The Cope’ Gallagher has hit out at the lack of an appeals process for schools who were not included in the recent DEIS designations.
Earlier this week 27 schools in Donegal, Leitrim and Sligo were added to the DEIS designated list.
Fine Gael TD Joe McHugh has urged those not included to contact the department of education for clarification as to what they may need for a successful application in the next round.
However, Fianna Fail Deputy Gallagher says clarification is not enough and they should be able to immediately appeal the decision to not receive DEIS status.
He says his party will be pushing for the introduction of such a process.
