With indoor training facilities unavailable this week there will be an internal under 10 blitz this Saturday at 11.15am in Páirc Aoidh Ruaidh.

Ladies

Our Boston Tea Party was great success and a most enjoyable night. Thanks to Coláiste Cholmcille for use of the school premises. Thanks to all the organisers for their hard work, and to all who hosted tables and to everyone who supported this major fund-raiser for the under 14 team’s trip to Féile later this year.

Last weekend was a busy one with Aodh Ruadh hosting challenge games between Donegal and Sligo county teams at under 13, under 14, and minor level. Aodh Ruadh had players in all of these teams and they all gave great accounts of themselves. We wish all the county teams every success in this season’s competitions.

There will be a Ladies Committee meeting at 7.30pm on Tuesday 14th February. All committee members are asked to attend.

Hurling

Underage hurling returns for all age groups on Sunday 5th March at 12 noon in Páirc Aodh Ruaidh. All welcome from 5 years up, new comers especially welcome. Hurls and helmets provided for training come along and learn the skills of our ancient game in a fun-filled environment. For any information contact John Rooney 086-2587793.

There are plans to run a hurling refereeing course in the near future, Anyone interested in doing this course is asked to contact John Rooney on 086-2587793.

Park / Development Committee

A meeting to roster the use of club facilities for training will take place in the next week or so. Club team managers will be contacted directly. All three club pitches are being verti-drained on Monday and Tuesday of this week. It is expected the work will be completed on Tuesday. Team managers are urged to exercise caution when accessing the facilities during this work.

Two conditions attach to use of the floodlit training field. First, advanced booking with and permission from Peter Conlon is mandatory. Second, the team manager booking the facility is responsible for collecting the fee on the night. There are no exceptions to this for anyone or any team.

Last Man Standing

Our Last Man Standing fund raiser is proving to be as competitive as the National League itself. Those who had predicted wins for Monaghan, Dublin, Tyrone and Cork were the big losers this week, as the field has now been whittled down to 46. There is a break for a fortnight now before the battle to claim the Last Man Standing title resumes.

Ciorcal Comhrá

Beidh ranganna Gaeilge ar siúl anocht, agus gach Luan, i nGaelscoil Éirne ag a 7 a chlog agus Ciorcal Comhrá ag a 8. There are beginners classes at Gaelscoil Éirne at 7pm and 8pm for those with conversational Irish. Tonight and every Monday. Fáilte roimh gach duine.

Scór Sinsear

Huge congratulations to our senior Scór quiz team of Sylvester Maguire, Eamonn Martin Maguire, Paddy Kelly and John Hughes who have qualified for the county final which takes place on 25th February in Glenswilly. Aodh Ruadh came joint first on the old with old sparring partners Glenfin.

Bingo

Last week’s €400 bingo jackpot was won be Teresa Herron, Ballyshannon. The last person left standing on the stand-up game was Ann Granaghan of Bundoran to take the €140 pot, rounding off a great week for her after her golden wedding anniversary celebrations. There was a close call on the snowball with the game checked on 49 numbers, but it survives another week so rises to €575 now on 48 numbers or less. Bingo as usual this Friday at 9pm in the Abbey Centre. Books are priced just €10, so see you there.
