Abbey centre get funding boost for upgrade works

South Donegal’s main arts centre will be able to undergo a significant refurbishment thanks to a new allocation of funding.

The Abbey Arts and Cultural Centre in Ballyshannon has been granted over €164,000 for a series of works.

The money will go towards refurbishing and upgrading the main threatre and reception area as well as investment in the sound and lighting equipment.

Local Fine Gael Councillor Barry O’Neill has welcomed the announcement saying the centre is the home of arts in the south of the county with theatres dedicated to Rory Gallagher and Patsy Croal and it’s the home of the Helen Allingham Gallery.
