New water treatment plant for North Leitrim



A sod-turning ceremony will take place tomorrow to mark the start of construction of the North Leitrim Regional Water Supply Scheme.

The work will involvement expenditure of almost eight and a half million euro and will benefit about 9,000 people.

Tomorrow’s event, to be attended by Minister for Housing and Urban Renewal Damien English, will start at 11am in the Bee Park Community Centre in Manorhamilton.

This will be followed by a visit to the Moneyduff Water Treatment Plant, between Manorhamilton and Dromahair.

Cathaoirleach of Leitrim County Council Mary Bohan says the scheme is long overdue:
