Casserly: Pay requirement for domestic violence victims ‘unjust’



A Sligo councillor is calling for an end to what she says is ‘an unjust system’ for victims of domestic violence who need legal aid.

Independent Councillor Marie Casserly says the Legal Aid Board requires victims to make a financial contribution before receiving legal aid or advice.

She put forward a motion at yesterday’s meeting of Sligo County Council calling for an end to the requirement.
