Investment of more than six million euro in Killybegs Harbour will mean space for more boats, more jobs and more income for the surrounding area.
That’s according to Donegal TD and Fine Gael Minister of State Joe McHugh, who says the capital investment in Killybegs is one of the biggest in the State.
It follows the announcement by Minister for Agriculture Michael Creed of a €28m in funding for capital projects at Ireland’s six fishery harbour centres and at Council-owned small harbours
The Donegal harbour is getting almost a third of that.
Minister McHugh told Ocean FM what the investment will actually mean for Killybegs:
However, Donegal Fianna Fail Deputy Pat ‘the Cope’ Gallagher says that while he welcomes the funding for the harbour, most of it is for work already planned with €5m of it already being sent on the extension of the pier.
