Consideration being given to permanent Sligo Cath Lab ‘not enough’

A Sligo/Leitrim TD says there is no certainty about when a permanent cardiac catherisation laboratory will be provided at Sligo University Hospital.

At present, a temporary cath lab visits the hospital one day a week.

Cardiac cath labs play a key role in the treatment and diagnosis of heart conditions, including heart attacks.

Fianna Fail Deputy Marc MacSharry says people in Waterford are looking for a second cath lab, adding that the lives of people in the North West are no less important those those in other parts of the country.

Deputy MacSharry tells Ocean FM the details of a reply he received from the Minister for Health about the cath lab in Sligo.
