Ladies

Not long to go now to our Boston Tea Party. The big night is this Friday 10th February in Coláiste Cholmcille with plenty of quality grub, music and craic guaranteed on the night. Tickets for this fine dining experience are a bargain at €20. Contact Barry Ward, Siobhan McGarrigle, Mairead Caldwell or Orla McGlynn to book your spot or for any further information on the event. This is a fund-raiser for the under 14 team’s trip to Féile later this year and we would particularly ask parents to support this strongly. Féile requires significant financial outlay between, gear, transport and innumerable other expenses and we hope the Boston Tea Party will go a significant distance to meeting those demands.

Aodh Ruadh will be hosting several Donegal county ladies teams this weekend for challenge matches against neighbouring counties. Aodh Ruadh will be represented by players in all three squads and we invite club members to come out and support them. The schedule of games is as follows. On Saturday the under 14 Donegal ladies will take on Sligo at 11.30pm. That game will be followed at 1pm by the Donegal under 13 ladies who will face Leitrim. On Sunday at noon the Donegal minor ladies will play Sligo. Get behind the Donegal girls!

Coláiste Cholmcille, Ballyshannon’s senior Ladies Gaelic team lost out in a high-scoring Ulster under 20 girls final at Garvaghey last week. Saint Louise’s, Belfast won by 6-7 to 4-19, but not before being pushed all the way by the Ernesiders. Coláiste Cholmcille were a point ahead at the break, 3-5 to 1-9 and were level with 43 minutes on the clock, but the Belfast girls then hit 1-6 on the trot to take the title. But this was a very good performance from the Ballyshannon College, who had strong performances from Shelly Loughlin, Mary Flora Scott and especially Brianna Maher at full-forward, who notched four goals for his side. Coláiste Cholmcille’s first half scorers were Mary Flora Scott with 1-2, Brianna Maher 2-0, Megan McEniff and Amy Hyndman 0-1 each. In the second half there were points from Méabh Rooney, Niamh Hoey and Mary Flora Scott while Brianna Maher chipped in with two more goals. The team was Bridín Maguire; Rionach Sheerin, Lorna Matthews, Bronagh Kelly; Hilary Francis, Shelly Loughlin, Tia McFarland; Anna Keon, Cáit Gillespie; Amy Hyndman (0-1), Mary Flora Scott (1-3), Megan McEniff (0-1); Méabh Rooney (0-1), Brianna Maher (4-0), Niamh Hoey (0-1). Last Man Standing

We had a great response to our Last Man Standing fund-raiser, with 275 entries. following Mayo’s defeat and Derry’s draw in Celtic Park we had a lot of fallers. So as we head for a difficult to predict week two we still have 163 standing in this fund-raiser. Thanks to all bought and sold cards for our new annual fund-raiser.
