MacSharry says new comments on post-Brexit border very worrying

A Sligo Leitrim TD insists that a Brexit Minister is needed.

Fianna Fail TD Marc MacSharry was speaking in the Dail following remarks by Michael Lux, the former head of the European Commission’s customs procedures.

Mr. Lux gave evidence to the Northern Ireland Affairs Committee this week and said that any claims for a ‘seamless’ border are simply not possible if the UK leaves the customs union.

He says it will mean border controls.

Deputy MacSharry says the issue as outlined by Mr. Lux is very serious.
