Fianna Fail says lives will be lost due to overcrowding crisis



Fianna Fáil claims people’s lives will be lost because of the hospital overcrowding crisis.

The Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation say there were 601 patients on trolleys earlier today – the third highest figure so far this year.

Fifty of those patients are on trolleys at Letterkenny and Sligo University Hospitals.

Twenty eight of these are in Letterkenny where a lack of beds has been a major issue since Christmas leading to cancelled elective surgeries and requiring the ‘Full Capacity Protocol’ to be put in place on a number of occasions.

Fianna Fail’s Health Spokesperson Billy Kelleher says the situation is unacceptable:
