Farmers urged to avail of new cheap loan scheme



Farmers in the North West can still apply for the sheep welfare scheme.

The local branches of the IFA are reminding farmers that the deadline is now this Friday the 3rd of February.

The Minister for Agriculture Michael Creed extended the deadline earlier this week.

Kevin Comiskey of the IFA in Leitrim says the extension of the application deadline for the Sheep Welfare Scheme will allow as many applicants as possible avail of the €10 per ewe payment for farmers undertaking actions which make a positive contribution to flock welfare.

He’s reminding farmers to apply:

Mr. Comiskey is also reminding farmers of a new loan scheme for farmers that was announced in the Budget and has now come on stream.
