A new community policing plan is to be rolled out throughout County Leitrim in the coming weeks.
The aim is to promote greater interaction and cooperation between the gardai and members of the public.
Under the plan, the county is being divided into different sections.
Garda Superintendent Kevin English told Ocean FM at a meeting of the Leitrim Joint Policing Committee in Carrick on Shannon yesterday afternoon that the plan should be particularly useful to areas where garda stations have closed:
