The Sligo Super Cup, jointly hosted by Sligo Rovers and the Sligo-Leitrim Schoolboys League, will be an elite U12 nine-a-side tournament, which will be staged at The Showgrounds from Friday, April 28, to Sunday, April 30.
Confirmed teams so far include Sheffield Wednesday, Linfield, North Dublin District Schoolboys League (NDSL), Dublin District Schoolboys League (DDSL), Club Northern Ireland, Mayo Schoolboys League and the hosts, Sligo Leitrim Schoolboys League.
The eighth and final team will be confirmed shortly.
The tournament, the first of its kind ever staged in the county, will feature the future soccer stars of tomorrow while also showcasing the tremendous facilities at the Sean Fallon Centre at the Showgrounds.
Each team will play a maximum of four game over the three days, and with squads of up to 16 players as well as coaches, parents and supporters, the tournament will generate an influx of visitors for the bank holiday weekend.
There are also plans for a range of associated activities designed to make the weekend a memorable festival of football, details of which will be confirmed closer to the event.
