IFA poultry chairman says fourth case of avian flu is a worry for the industry



The Department of Agriculture has confirmed a case of bird flu in County Leitrim.

It was found in a whooper swan at Gortermone, Carrigallen.

The Department points out that while it gives the location in which the bird was found, it does not mean the risk to poultry or other birds is confined to that immediate area.

This latest confirmation brings to four the number of birds confirmed with the bird flu in the past month.

The others were a swan in Tipperary and wigeons in Galway and Wexford.
