Lamb mortality in flocks to be discussed at sheep conference in Leitrim



Lamb mortality in sheep flocks is one of the issues that will be discussed at a sheep conference in Leitrim next week.

The Teagasc annual sheep conference is taking place in Carrick-on-Shannon on Tuesday.

There will be a number of guest speakers at the event which takes place in the Landmark Hotel at 5:30pm next Tuesday, the 31st January.

Seamus Fagan from the Regional Veterinary Lab in Athlone will speak on the results of a study looking into the reason why 8 to 10% of lambs die each year.

Professor Michael Diskin, Head of the Animal & Bioscience Research Department with Teasgasc is one of the organisers of this event every years.

He told Ocean FM News today that tackling these kinds of issues will save farmers money each year.
