Disappointment at lack of local improvement scheme funding



The Cathaoirleach of Leitrim County Council says the failure of the Department to support Local Improvement Schemes is a blow to people living in rural areas.

The local roads allocations were made yesterday with €34m for Donegal, Sligo and Leitrim which is an increase on last years funding.

Leitrim’s allocation is up about 6% to €6.7m with most of the money allocated to restoration and improvement works on local roads.

However, Fianna Fail Councillor Mary Bohan says it’s disappointing that the Department has failed to recognise the importance of Local Improvement Schemes:
