Over €34m allocated to the North West in local roads funding



Over €34m has been allocated to the North West in local roads funding.

The Department of Transport has confirmed the allocations which will include over €20m for Donegal, €6.7m for Leitrim and €8.4m for Sligo.

It will allow all of the Councils to carry out much-needed works on local roads including rehabilitation work on bridges and safety works in different areas.

In Sligo, the western distributor road is one of the projects to be funded – it has been allocated €100,000.

In Leitrim, work will be done to a dangerous junction near Parkes Castle and the northern approach road into Kinlough.

In Donegal, Mulantiboyle bridge is one of the bridges that has been approved for €30,000 in grant-aid.

Mayor of Sligo, Independent Alliance Councillor Marie Casserly is welcoming the bigger allocations but says the smaller grants will allow much-needed work to be carried out right around the county:
