Sligo overcome Leitrim in final FBD League tie



Sligo finished off their FBD League campaign with a 2-13 to 0-16 defeat of Leitrim yesterday.

First half goals from Niall Murphy and Mark Breheny pushed the Yeats men into a 2-12 to 0-6 half-time lead in Tourlestrane.

But Leitrim outscored their neighbours by ten points to one in the second half.

Sligo made 14 substitutions as the teams agreed to give their extended panels some game-time.

Elsewhere in the Connacht League yesterday, Andy Moran scored an injury-time goal as Mayo beat Roscommon in Kiltoom, but the Rossies still qualified for the final against Galway.

In the McKenna Cup in Ulster, Tyrone beat Fermanagh by 14 points to 12 in the semi-finals, and the holders will now face Derry in the final after they overcame Monaghan in the other semi-final.

In U21 action, Mayo beat Donegal by 1-12 to 1-11 in the final round of the North West Cup on Saturday, and will now face Sligo in next weekend’s final.
