North West MEPs react to Theresa May’s Brexit plan



There are fears the UK Government is failing to acknowledge the complexities of its existing relationship with the EU.

North West MEPs have been reacting to Theresa May’s 12 point Brexit plan yesterday.

Fine Gael MEP Mairead McGuiness says leaving the single market and uncertainty about the customs union will make trade between the UK and the EU more difficult.

She’s accused the UK of underestimating the depth of the relationship.

Meanwhile, Sligo MEP Marian Harkin met with the EU chief Brexit negotiator Michel Barnier in Strasbourg yesterday.

She says he understands the implications of Brexit for Ireland but warns the EU will not be ‘naive’ in its negotiations with the UK:
