Enterprise Ireland companies create more than 700 jobs in Sligo, Leitrim, Donegal



Enterprise Ireland companies based in Sligo, Leitrim and Donegal created a total of more than 700 jobs in the three counties in 2016.

More than 420 of the jobs were in Donegal, 160 were in Leitrim and 120 in Sligo.

The total number of people employed in Enterprise Ireland supported companies are 3,581 in Donegal; 1,546 in Sligo; and 922 in Leitrim.

The Government agency responsible for developing Irish business globally says a total of 19,244 new jobs — both full and part-time — in Enterprise Ireland supported businesses were created across the country last year.

This brings the total number of people employed by Enterprise Ireland supported companies to 201,108, breaking the 200,000 milestone of people employed in Enterprise Ireland supported companies for the first time ever.

Digital Technology and construction were among the key performing sectors.

In the North West, the least number of new jobs created in Enterprise Ireland companies last year was in Sligo.

But, as Paschal McGuire, regional director of Enterprise Ireland tells Ocean FM News, uncertainty caused by Brexit is a factor:
