Sligo county council issue weather alert update



Motorists in the West and North West are being warned of further cold and wintry weather conditions tonight.

A status orange snow and ice weather warning remains in place for Sligo, Leitrim and Donegal.

Met Eireann advises that it will be cold this evening, with clear spells and scattered showers of rain, hail, sleet and snow.

Sligo County Council have confirmed that road crews will treat the county’s main routes late this evening and Conditions will be monitored and the crews will be deployed early Friday morning if necessary

Motorists and other road users are urged to take extra caution on all routes during the severe spell.

Gritting will also take place on roads in Donegal and Leitrim.

Current Met Eireann forecast advises that it will be cold this evening, with clear spells and scattered showers of rain, hail, sleet and snow, some of them heavy and thundery, mainly in Atlantic coastal counties. Windy, with strengthening north-westerly winds.

Sligo County Council Road crews will treat the county’s main routes late this evening; Conditions will be monitored and the crews will be deployed early Friday morning if necessary
