More school wardens to be hired in Sligo

Up to eight new school wardens are to be hired by Sligo County Council in the coming weeks.

The positions will be provided on a part-time permanent basis after the council received a sanction from the department of local government to recruit the wardens.

Eight schools in the Sligo town area have the position currently filled but four of those will become available again in the coming weeks alongside four other schools are unmanned.

They include St. Edward’s National School in Ballytivnan and Carbury National School on the Mall.

Independent councillor Marie Casserly raised the issue at this week’s meeting of Sligo county council to request permission from the department to recruit the new wardens.

The Mayor of Sligo says the council are hopeful of filling the positions quickly.
