Growing concern over Enniscrone Library service

There is growing concern in the west Sligo area of Enniscrone about the future of the library service there.

Two library staff are due to retire next year and there are fears they may not be replaced.

Toward the end of last year, lack of library staff led to rolling closures of the central library in Sligo Town and the library branches in Ballymote and Tubbercurry.

West Sligo Councillor Joe Queenan says that so far, he has received no commitment from the county council that the retiring staff in Enniscrone will be replaced.

At the first Sligo County Council meeting of the New Year this morning, Cllr Queenan has a motion down seeking confirmation that the library service in Enniscrone will be maintained after August 17th next.
