Summerhill to begin championship title defence on January 18

Holders Summerhill College will begin their defence of the Connacht Senior A Football Championship on Wednesday week, January 18, at the Connacht GAA Centre.

The Sligo school will face St Gerald’s Castlebar at 12.30pm in Bekan, with the winners progressing to a quarter-final against St Jarlath’s of Tuam on February 1.

League winners St Attracta’s are also on that side of the draw and will face the team that comes through that quarter-final.

On the other side of the draw, Westport’s Rice College will face St Muredach’s of Ballina in the preliminary round before the Summerhill-St Gerald’s game at 11am in the Connacht GAA Centre.

The winners there face Holy Rosary Mountbellew in the quarter-finals, with league finalists St Colman’s of Claremorris given a bye to the semi-finals.
