There’s shock and sadness in South Donegal at news that a well-known hotel bar and restaurant in the area has closed.
It has been announced that the bar and restaurant at the Castle Murray House Hotel in St John’s Point, Dunkineely, has closed from yesterday.
Operators the Howley family say in a Facebook message that it is with great sadness that their fourteen and a half year journey with the restaurant must come to an end.
They say it has been a labour of love but that, unfortunately, the business is no longer viable.
However, they add that Castle Murray will be reopening as a different business later this year.
Local Councillor Niamh Kennedy says it’s a sad start to the New Year for an area along the Wild Atlantic Way that is highly dependent on tourism:
