The head of the Killybegs Fishermen’s Organisation says that Brexit is undoubtedly the biggest challenge facing the fishing sector in 2017.
Sean O’Donoghue says the sector is extremely vulnerable due to the nature of the boundaries.
While he says the worst impacts are unlikely to be felt until 2019 or 2020, the government needs to put in the work now to minimise the impact.
He says this means ‘difficult and ‘protracted’ negotiations:
