Concern over danger at Sligo town junction

A Sligo councillor is calling for drivers to be more careful when travelling through the junction of John, Adelaide and Temple streets in Sligo town.

Sinn Fein councillor Sean McManus said the breaking of red lights by motorists instead of facing a ‘hill start’ is a particular cause for concern.

Raising the issue at a recent meeting of the Sligo Municipal District he acknowledged the roads department have sought to address the issue but wants to see further measures adopted to protect pedestrians.

Speaking to Ocean FM councillor McManus highlighted the case of one visually impaired pedestrian who finds the junction particularly dangerous.
