Boil water notice lifted for Kiltyclogher scheme

Irish Water has lifted a boil water notice which has been in operation in Kiltyclogher, Co Leitrim for more than a year and a quarter.

It follows completion of works on the water supply scheme which will benefit more than 330 people in that north Leitrim area.

The Kiltyclogher Public Water Supply was placed on the boil notice because the source was vulnerable to contamination, particularly during dry spells.

Irish Water appointed a contractor to build a new mains and pumping station to extend the North Leitrim Regional Water Scheme to supply the Kiltyclogher scheme.

The work also included providing a new 4.5 distribution main from the Coolodonnell reservoir to supply the village of Rossinver.

Local Fine Gael Councillor Sean McDermott says the latest news is welcome as the boil notice had caused inconvenience to people in the area.
