€1.5 million Arts funding for north west organisations



Arts in the northwest is to benefit from funding of more than 1.5 million euro in 2017.

11 groups and organisations in Sligo, Leitrim and Donegal will receive funding from the Arts Council for the development of arts.
Sligo will receive over 670 thousand euro with The Model Arts Centre in Sligo Town getting 250 thousand, 200 thousand going to The Blue Raincoat ensemble company, 165 thousand for The Hawk’s Well Theatre and a further 56 thousand allocated to Kid’s Own.

In Leitrim 439 thousand euro will go to The Glen’s Centre in Manorhamilton receiving 39 thousand, The Dock in Carrick on Shannon will get 75 thousand, The Leitrim Sculpture Centre 160 thousand and the Fabulous Beast Dance Theatre getting a 165 thousand euro grant.

Three organisations in Co. Donegal will receive funding of 486 thousand euro. They are the Earagail Arts Festival receiving 180 thousand, The Regional Culture Centre in Letterknny & Donegal town 125 thousand and An Grianan Theatre will get a grant of 105 thousand euro.

The announcements form part of the Arts Council’s planned investment of 65.1 million euro nationwide for 2017. This represents an increase of 5 million euro on the 2016 funding.
